MARKHAM -

Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine if a 30-year-old man killed in Markham on Monday afternoon was murdered or struck by a hit-and-run driver.

York Regional Police say the mortally injured victim was found on Stirling Cr., a residential neighbourhood near Brimley Rd. and Denison St., just before 5 p.m.

He was taken to hospital, where he died.

The victim has since been identified as Michael Khan, of Markham.

“It’s either going to be a homicide or a fatal fail to remain,” Const. Andy Pattenden said Tuesday. “We’re just waiting for the results of the post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.”

Investigators have released an image of “a vehicle of interest,” a U-haul truck that Pattenden said was captured on video by a security camera driving through the neighbourhood at the time of the incident.

Police are hoping members of the public can help identify the vehicle and its occupants.

Investigators are also urging anyone with a dashcam in their vehicle who was driving in the area at the time to come forward.

Anyone with information or video is asked call police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7865, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
