Kanye West has reportedly been put under constant watch in hospital as he has become “very paranoid”, an insider has revealed.
The Stronger hitmaker was admitted to the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center (UCLA) for a mental evaluation on Nov. 21 after his allegedly erratic behaviour led to fears for his health.
Now a source close to the rapper has told America’s People magazine that he is “very paranoid” in the hospital, meaning he is being heavily supervised by staff at the centre.
“(Kanye) has big ups and big downs, but this bout seems to be much more serious. In the hospital he has been very paranoid and is under constant watch for his safety,” the source revealed. “He’s still there because clearly he’s not doing well.”
According to reports, West had been expected to be discharged from the hospital by now. However, his setback has meant doctors have rethought releasing him.
The rapper’s wife Kim Kardashian has rarely left his side during his time in the facility, and even sat with her spouse as he marked America’s Thanksgiving holiday in hospital.
And Kardashian is reportedly the only person in West ’s life he trusts at the moment.
“Kim acts very concerned,” the insider continued. “She says he has yet to be diagnosed, but she uses words like paranoia and explained that Kanye thinks everyone is out to get him. The only person Kanye trusts is Kim. Kim does spend hours with Kanye every day. She says that Kanye is on many different medications and that his doctors are figuring out proper doses. Kim says that not much has changed since he was admitted and that his doctors seem concerned.”
Despite the reports about West ’s setback, the father-of-two recently had a positive development.
A source close to the rapper told People that he has been “really eager to make music and to work even from the hospital bed.”
However, it’s unclear when West will be allowed to leave the hospital, with the insider adding that the rapper’s mental health is “very private” and “between him and his family.”
PRODUCTION CONTINUES ON KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS
A network representative at E! has dismissed reports suggesting production on reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians has been shut down until at least next year.
Filming first stalled back in October after Kim Kardashian became the victim of an armed robbery in Paris, France, during which she was bound, gagged and held at gunpoint while thieves stole jewellery and cell phones.
At the time, a spokesperson for the E! network said show bosses were focusing on her wellbeing and hadn’t decide when production would resume, but it was reported Kim was filming the show a few weeks later when she attended her husband Kanye West’s concert at The Forum in Inglewood, California with her sister Kourtney and close friend Jonathan Cheban.
However, a report from editors at TMZ indicated the family has not shot any new footage since the robbery and the show wouldn’t return until 2017.
A spokesperson for E! is now denying the reports, telling the New York Post’s Page Six, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians is currently in production and has not been halted.”
In addition to dealing with the affects from the armed robbery, Kim has also been at Kanye’s side following his hospitalisation on Nov. 21.
Kanye went to the hospital freely for a psychiatric evaluation after suffering “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration” his doctor Dr. Michael Farzam reportedly told emergency services.
The reality star has been sleeping at the hospital.
“Kim acts very concerned,” an insider said. “She says he has yet to be diagnosed, but she uses words like paranoia and explained that Kanye thinks everyone is out to get him.
“Kim does spend hours with Kanye every day... Kim says that not much has changed since he was admitted and that his doctors seem concerned.”
