A Minnesota woman who killed a man after she was texting and driving will get probation and only spend four days in jail.
Joseph Tikalsky, 79, was getting his morning paper on the road outside his home on Oct. 28, 2015 when he was struck and killed.
According to reports from the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Susan Ann Russo, 48, was sentenced to four days behind bars, 40 hours of community service with Minnesotans for Safe Driving, and two years of probation for reckless driving. She will complete her sentence over two years.
Russo must also pay a $3,000 fine which will fund a billboard that warns about the dangers of distracted driving.
Tikalsky's widow told CBS Minnesota, "I know she didn't mean to kill anyone."
