A suspected transgender serial killer allegedly raped and killed three women when she was a he, cops say.
Donna Perry -- who was a man when the killings occurred -- allegedly murdered the Spokane, Wash., prostitutes. The women were sexually assaulted, shot in the head and then their bodies were dumped along the shore of a local river.
Perry, 64, underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2000. If convicted she will face the rest of her life behind bars.
Yolanda Sapp, Kathleen Brisbois, and Nickie Lowe were murdered in rapid succession.
But it took 15 years for Brisbois’ DNA to be resubmitted to a state crime lab.
“Low and behold, a few years later, there was a matching profile with Donna Perry, which has obviously led to charges for these three women,” Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy Craig Chamberlin told KXLY.
“With the evidence that was submitted, there were (also) fingerprints located on a bottle of lubricant that was in Nickie Lowe’s purse which matched Donna Perry’s.”
Perry was about to be sprung from a Texas gun charge when Spokane detectives arrested her.
In addition, Perry -- formerly a man named Douglas -- told investigators it really wasn’t her. The murders suddenly stopped and cops didn’t know why.
She told them “Douglas didn’t stop. Donna stopped it.”
